IDU was mainly associated with genotypes 1a, 3 and 4, the transfusion-associated infection with genotypes 1b and 2 and parenteral/nosocomial infections with 1b,1,5,12,13,15,16,2230,3336 also confirming the main trends recently reported in our area in the population infected by IDU.37 Logistic regression analysis confirmed positive associations between transfusion and parenteral/nosocomial transmissions and genotype 1b and between IDU and genotype 3 and, conversely, negative associations between genotypes 1b and 2 and IDU and between genotypes 3 and 4 and infections acquired through the transfusion-associated and parenteral/nosocomial routes
